Gotu kola is an ancient Indian herb, used for eating and medical purposes. It is called Mandukaparni in Sanskrit. Its botanical name is Centella Asiatica.

It is advisable to take this paste on an empty stomach in the morning with a glass of warm milk. After this breakfast should be skipped and at lunch, a light vegetarian meal should be taken. This remedy should be done for 12 days. In traditional medicine, Gotu kola powder is mixed with ghee (clarified butter) and given to children to improve mental capacity.

When used in combination with other herbs such as jatamansi, shankhpushpi and mukta-pishti, it gives good results when treating anxiety.
