Hiring a new employee is an involved process. There are a lot of factors that go into a hiring decision, and an even larger amount of questions an applicant can be asked. One of the most common questions that you will be asked is “why should we hire you?”

However, knowing what the employer wants to hear requires that you know why they’re asking the question in the first place. Employers ask this question because they want to know that you have the right set of skills, experience and attitude both for their role and their company culture.

During the interview, a potential employer is going to try and get to know you on a personal level. Not only do they want to see how well you communicate professionally, but they also want to know your personality so they can determine if you’re going to help promote a culture of openness and encouragement in their company.

As an interviewer, I often come across candidates who easily answer questions about the company and role, but when I ask why I should hire them, many struggles to come up with a strong answer. Then the way the question is a great way to dig into what your candidate’s core values are, what motivates them and how they convey their passion.

Well, there’s my proven ability to maintain strong interpersonal relationships with several clients. I am passionate about providing care to those in need in my community, which keeps me motivated and excited about doing my best work. I understand you need a candidate who can be consistently available for events in clients’ lives (weddings, birthday parties, funerals).
