Carefully choose your battles
By keeping your priorities in mind, you will find it easier to choose your battles. If you simply get into every argument that occurs, you’ll feel a lot more distressed, unhappy and you won’t get anywhere. Of course, it is infuriating when your children throw their dirty clothes on the floor or when your spouse keeps leaving the dirty pots in the sink. However, if you think about it, the number of battles in life is quite endless. So, instead of getting upset over every issue, simply choose the battles you want to engage in and only one at a time. This will help to lower your stress and you’ll see better progress.
You may feel like you need to work and get things done in every single minute of the day. However, this isn’t true and you need to have frequent breaks. If you’re anything like me, you probably have a to-list that’s a mile long and keeps getting longer. Most people are very guilty of working endlessly in order to get as much done on their list as possible so they can feel worthy and accomplished. This isn’t healthy and you need to have regular breaks so that your mind can rest and you can feel more relaxed and recharged.
Create time to enjoy the small things
Today’s society is very hectic and it is quite easy to miss out on the small stuff that brings a great deal of joy. A good example of this is if you’re trying to get your child to school and you’re in a rush but your child keeps asking for a hug. Even though it may be easy to ignore this request, you should take the time to hug your child. If your friend calls or messages to say hi and check up on you during your day, make sure you take a couple of seconds to reply to them. These small things mean a lot and they bring an immense amount of joy into your life, so make sure to create time for them.
Get enough rest
Sleep is when your body and mind repair. Everything feels better after a good night’s sleep. Ensure that you get the best sleep with a Therapedic Mattress.
Do one thing at a time
If you need to focus on work, ensure that you only do one thing at a time. Thanks to our fast-paced culture, social media, phones etc, most people have a small attention span. However, when you multi-task and jump between different tasks, you can become very overwhelmed while not getting much done. Instead, create a priority list so that you know what is most important and start there.
Lastly, is it important to forgive yourself when you can’t do everything. The vast majority of stress comes from our own negative thoughts and feelings that are directed inwards. Remember, you aren’t perfect and it’s okay to make mistakes. Keep in mind that you aren’t so harsh with your loved ones and friends, so don’t be so harsh on yourself.
