Properties of Radome

Radomes are defined as large dome-shaped figures that protect radars from bad weather while still allowing electromagnetic waves to be received by the radar without any disturbance. A radome consists of a dome that is mounted on a circular tower or cross-section.

Radomes are structured domes that protect a radar system. They are made of materials that attenuate electromagnetic signals minimally whether transmitted or received. They protect the surfaces of antennas and conceal them from public view. There are radome manufacturers who provide the making of radomes whose applications include weather radar, air traffic control, and so forth.

They can also be manufactured in different types of shapes and sizes. Their application of frequency makes it able to be used in a variety of materials.

Types of Radomes

Radomes are typically made for the purpose of electronic antenna enclosure. The enclosures are made of rigid materials or flexible fabric. Wind load is the most important part of the Radome design along with analyzing its strength and stability. The performance of a radome requires optimum electrical at the operating frequency band.

Important factors that determine the wind load that are radiom energy are its geometry, its location of it and its adjacency to other buildings, and wind velocity.
